The grounds at Igros were flooded that evening, as though the Heavens themselves were crying. Lord Dycedarg had made no secret that Lord Balbanes, his father, had been stricken ill, but we were not prepared to catch word of his demise so soon. The winds were gusting as we stood guard outside the castle walls. We watched as the messenger depart for his mission to Dorter Trade City. We were chilled to the bone.
It felt as but yesterday, when our class graduated from the Academy at Gariland. Although the war was in its final stages, the Hokuten only intensified their recruitment, hoping to bring about a decisive end; however, it would only serve as the catalyst to the new threat which we currently face. Yet, it was these troubled times which gave our graduating class an opportunity to prove our valor in battle.
In truth, I was too young to truly appreciate the horrors of war. To see men and women strewn about a field, tattered, torn and awashed with blood. To hear the ghastly moans of those teetering on the brink of death, pleading with God for life, or crying to loved ones forever out of reach. Many in my class were not yet prepared to take a life, and the shock of feeling another man's blood spurting violently upon them inevitably proved fatal in the heat of battle. By God's grace, or perhaps curse, was I able to survive, although the feel of sickness upon seeing a fresh corpse had never left me as it had my remaining compatriots. Although I had intended to become a Knight worthy of my surname, I knew that my fate was in service to God as a brother of Glabados.
Through the howling wind, a voice pulled me away from my errant thoughts. "Guarding a castle is pretty boring work, don't you think?" Mechanically, I nodded. As the next shift took over our vigil, we slowly returned to the barracks and prepared for the morning of Lords Zalbag and Dycedarg arrival.
Once again, I would discover how unprepared we were for the war that lay ahead.

Reasons I love FFT: FFT is my game. Beat it more than any other game, play it every year to this day. I in fact, played the PSP version over Christmas break. I've playtested several FFH patches over the years and developed my own, and also sprited my own work and created my own patch (see avatar image).
