Basically with the help of Xenoraze, we've discovered that the forums will not transfer easily from one database to another.
A quick explanation as to why this has happened, as our forums grew in size, the database it's hosted on "sqlite" got overloaded, which gave more errors as time went on. The newer versions of SMF (our forum hosters) gave the option for sqlite to be the database type, which in all honesty was a bad idea. Considering the size our lil forum has grown to in two months, it quickly became overloaded to the point now where people cant even log in or out as new members/posts and content are being added.
As it is, the database files were incompatible with one another, so it was impossible to transfer over any of the information from the old forums. The technical details if you're curious, sqlite didn't find it necessary to export a proper mysql file that could be imported and read properly on a mysql database.
So we had a few options with this, either keep the other forum, and delete about 60% of the old content to free up space, or just create a whole new forum on a new database. Leaving it on the other forum and deleting old content would not stop the database errors, those will always persist though sqlite. Plus sqlite left a bit of room for security issues.
So in my opinion, for both our convenience and the future of IG, I thought it best to start from a clean slate. We weren't able to keep any of the information from our old forums, as the database files were incompatable. What I'm going to do, to compensate for this is just edit peoples profiles myself to give them their post count back, and I'm going to leave the other forums up for a couple weeks, so you can copy over any important posts or anything you'd like to keep.
I'm really sorry for all the trouble, I spent a long night and past few days investigating this matter with the other forums, and I'm really disappointed it had to come to this. I think if we were able to overload a database in just two months, it shows that we're quite the active and popular community, and I appreciate you all for putting up with us when we're not at our best. Hopefully lots of good things on the way for you guys.
And last, welcome to the new IG forums!
